Western Red Cedar  - Gates and Fencing   One of the most versatile materials for the construction of gates and fencing is timber – and one of the most suitable timbers is Western Red Cedar. The natural beauty of Western Red Cedar, enjoyed in so many other applications can also flow through to these essential components of todays modern housing. Not only can this prized timber provide the appearances so widely sought after, but often the most cost effective solution as well. Shorter lengths of Western Red Cedar are extremely cost effective. Timber Gates and Fencing requiring components less than 2 metres in length are often found to be most economical when built with Western Red Cedar.       Products Products from the TIMBECK range which are suitable for use in Gates and Fencing can be found in our “Shiplap & Vee-Joint Cladding” section and our “Dressed & Sawn Boards” section.     Western Red Cedar gates and fencing provide the perfect compliment for all building styles    Fixings As for our other external products, we recommend only non-ferrous fixing devices for external use. Where nailing is required, silicone bronze provides an ideal product. Where screw or bolt fixings are part of the design, stainless steel will provide the most practical solution.   Finishing & Maintenance Requirements for finishing and maintenance of Western Red Cedar in gates and fences are similar to the requirements for other external applications.
