Product Overview
|
|
For almost as long as man has been sheathing the exterior of buildings with timber, nailing through the cladding face has been the most widely adopted method of fixing.
Of more recent times, improved understanding of drying characteristics has resulted in the emergence of timber products with greatly improved dimensional stability.
This characteristic has enabled conceal fixing to be incorporated into the profile detailing and a range of cladding options is now available to take full advantage of this more subtle method of securing. |
|
Western Red Cedar is exceptionally suited to conceal fixing. Its naturally inherent properties, (low density and exceptionally low shrinkage rates) are the essential attributes necessary for the long term reliable performance of a hidden fixed cladding system.
A Conceal Fix profile is most suited when the cladding has been partially or fully pre-finished - coated all round before installation. In these cases, concealed fixing alleviates any need to penetrate visually exposed faces allowing full retention of the integrity of the initial coating.
By and large, TIMBECK’s recommendations for claddings are either Conceal Fixed or Face Fixed profiles with penetrating oil finishes, one coat as a factory applied pre-finish with a second coat applied on-site after installation.
Conceal Fix profile claddings are available with either dressed face (standard) or saw textured (optional).
