Q. How long does WRC Cladding last?
A. Properly pre-treated, installed and maintained, WRC cladding can enhance a home’s exterior for 50 to 70 years.
Q. What are the benefits of having TIMBECK Cedar Products pre-prime or pre-stain my cladding before application?
A. TIMBECK has the unique ability to pre-prime or pre-stain all four sides of any of our products prior to application. The process is highly cost effective, and protects the timber from weathering on site ( which can reduce adhesion of film forming finishes.) Pre-priming can also increase the service life of the top coats.
Q. Is Cedar sustainable?
A. Absolutely yes. WRC is sourced from publicly owned forests in British Columbia, Canada, where stringent harvesting controls have been in place for decades.
Less than 1/3 of 1% of the available Cedar is harvested each year, and 3 trees are replanted for every one logged. The forests today are more extensive than they were 100 years ago.
Q. I know Cedar is a durable and stable timber, but isn’t it very expensive?
A. No. The secret to buying timber most economically is to talk to the specialist supplier, and ensure that your real needs are established. Very often, TIMBECK staff will be able to guide you to a different end section, length or width that will result in significant savings.Because of its quality and performance, WRC is perceived as a luxury product. In reality, it is competitively priced against many other “lesser” timbers, and offers much better value for money.
Q. Why use WRC Cladding instead of Fibre Cement?
A. There are a number of reasons :
- Cost - Both products cost about the same per square metre, but fibre cement require expensive finishing.
WRC can be left to weather naturally.
- Weight and Handling- Fibre cement is heavy and awkward to handle, generally requiring two men to install. It is also fragile.
- Thermal Properties- WRC is one of the best insulators available.
Fibre Cement’s thermal properties are very poor.
- Sound Transmission- WRC absorbs sound, Cement reflects it. (Most Specialists believe that F/C cladding is ineffective without separate and additional insulation.)
- Appearance and Value-Adding- WRC is a recognised high status product.
