Pterocarpus Indicus.

03. Primary Origin

Asia Pacific Regions - New Guinea & Solomon Islands.

04. Colour & Figure

Heartwood can be either golden brown or dark blood red with the sapwood being distinctive pale yellow.

Medium texture and variable grain with some boards highly figured.

09. Grade Options

Select - is graded according to product and for mainstream items like cladding, panelling, screening & mouldings, it requires material to be basically free of all knots, defects and similar blemishes on the primary face.
Traces of the dis-allowed characteristics may appear on the back face.                    

10. Leaching

Does not leach with respect to staining other materials when wet, but mild extractive bleeding may occur (very spasmodically and infrequently).
Extractive bleeding could induce slight colour variations in some paints.

11. Thickness
  (finished dressed)

Rosewood is available in many standard thicknesses including 19-30-40mm.

Seasoned boards are also generally available in 65mm thickness but rarely in the thicker 90mm finish.

12. Width
  (finished dressed)

Most widths from 12mm to 190mm are readily available with lesser availability of the wider 235mm and 285mm boards.

13. Length

All lengths in 300mm increments from 0.9M to 3.6M are usually available with limitations of the availability of longer lengths.

Set lengths for screening and other application particularly requiring smaller end sections up to 90 x 38mm are readily available.

A range of factory coated options are available including Cutek CD 50 clear oil and  lacquers for protected applications.


16. Coating
  (internal)

Factory pre coating can be offered in UV cured lacquer for non-hard wearing areas, spray applied two pack polyurethane for hard wearing applications or oils for other applications.
 

17. Availability

Readily available with normal production lead times however large volumes of specific lengths and sizes requires extended lead time to ensure supply meets expectations.
